Abstract
Measurement and evaluation of the quality and efficiency of public services to local government is becoming increasingly debated topic not only in the Slovak Republic. Experience from abroad suggests that it is also necessary to apply new methods in managerial approaches in the management of public administration. In this regard, benchmanking used to be the most commonly used method for measuring the performance of public services.
